DOT Lebanon partnered with software corporation, SAP on initiative called Refugee Code Week. SAP is a world leader in enterprise software. The German corporation makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations. Refugee Code Week partners also included UNHCR the UN Refugee Agency and Galway Education Centre.
In collaboration with Berytech, SAP trained 41 participants. DOT Lebanon Teacher Facilitators, Alumni members, and local teachers learned about web development.
The workshop aimed to train participants on Web Development and Scratch Coding program. Participants went on to train refugees and hosting communities. The skills learned will help young people and their families build a future. Refugee Code Week provided digital skills to 10,000 refugee and non-refugee youth.
Trainers were deployed on October 15th to 34 different locations. Training hubs included Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) centers, community organizations and public secondary schools.
764 participants received training. Of those, 404 were women and 361 men. Of all the participants, 172 of them were refugees.
