Sharik: Entrepreneurship and Employability for Development
The Sharik: Entrepreneurship and Employability for Development project empowered vulnerable groups such as women and youth in Bourj el Barajneh Palestine Refugee Camp to use information, communications, and technology to increase their employment and income-generation opportunities.
This project was funded by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (Canadian Embassy in Lebanon) and delivered in partnership with the National Assosication for Vocational Training and Social Services (NAVTSS).
Sharik empowered three young people from the Bourj el Barajneh Palestine Refugee Camp with technology and leadership skills and trained them to deliver information, communications, and technology courses to vulnerable groups in their community to promote entrepreneurship and employability, through the ReachUp! program.
Sharik: Entrepreneurship and Employability for Development Project Details
Objectives: Empower vulnerable members of the Bourj el Barajneh Palestinian Refugee Camp such as women in youth to use information, communications, and technology to increase their employment and income-generation opportunities through the ReachUp! program.

Summary:
- Three youth leaders (DOT Interns) were equipped with protection, advocacy, technology, and leadership skills, and trained to deliver programs promoting the use of technology for advocacy and entrepreneurship.
- 114 youth and women trained in information, communications, technology, business, and entrepreneurship skills.
59.6% of program graduates are women from Bourj el Barajneh Palestinian Refugee Camp.
